Laser Surgery
|
|

|
We are pleased to offer laser surgery
as a safe and comfortable treatment. In many procedures,
the laser can
replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery.
If your pet
requires surgery, the first step is a pre-anesthetic examination
with one of our veterinarians.*

 |
The exam room at Nucci Veterinary Clinic
is where your pet's health is evaluated by
one of our veterinarians. In AAHA hospitals,
a
complete history of your pet is taken in
addition to a physical exam of various systems
of the body,
such as respiratory, nervous, and
sensory systems. This helps ensure a proper
assessment of your
pet's health.
|
Our surgery room - In AAHA hospitals, surgery is performed in specialized rooms used only for surgery.
Proper lighting, aseptic procedures, and easy access to drugs and equipment all help ensure your pet
receives the best possible surgical care.
|
Nursing Care after surgery -
Our veterinary technicians and assistants help provide more efficient care for your pet by helping in surgery, recovery, diagnostics, therapy, administering medication, and intensive care --much the same functions as those of a nurse or technician in a human hospital.

Why
Laser Surgery?
Click on this link for additional
information on state
of the art
surgical laser procedures. |
Less Pain
- Laser
energy seals nerve endings as it moves through tissue.
Your pet feels less pain post-operatively.
|
Less
Bleeding -The
laser seals small blood vessels during surgery which
allows your doctor to perform surgeries with extraordinary precision.
This also speeds some procedures reducing the need for anesthesia.
|
Less
Swelling -
Laser energy does not crush, tear or bruise because only a beam of intense
light contacts the tissue.
|
Reduced
risk of infection - The
laser sterilizes as it removes diseased tissue, killing bacteria that
cause infection.
|
Precision
- The laser can remove unhealthy tissue
while minimizing adverse affects to healthy surrounding tissue.
|
Quick
return to normal activities - Recovery
is rapid and there is less post-opertive discomfort.
|
What
types of procedures can a laser perform? Laser surgery can correct many common
conditions such as cysts, tumors, warts and infections that may occur
around the eyes,
ears, in the mouth, and anywhere on the skin. Specialized
internal procedures are also possible* as well as spay, neuter, and declaw
surgeries are performed at our veterinary AHAA-accredited hospital.
