DHPP
(Distemper/Hepatitis/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus) DHPP vaccine should be started at 6-8 weeks of age (See Puppy Vaccination Schedule) and are recommended annually. The DHPP vaccine protects against the following:

• Distemper virus: attacks the lungs and affects the function of the brain and spinal cord. Disease can be fatal.
• Hepatitis: attacks the liver and can cause loss of vision.
• Parainfluenza: respiratory virus that causes coughing.
• Parvovirus: attacks the lining of the intestinal tract and damages the heart of very young puppies. Disease can be fatal.

Rabies
This vaccine protects against the rabies virus which attacks the central nervous system and is fatal. Rabies can be transmitted to humans. The initial rabies vaccine should be given at 16 weeks of age. The first rabies vaccine is effective for one year and all subsequent vaccines are effective for three years. A rabies vaccine is mandatory to liscense your dog.

Bordetella
This vaccine protects against a bacterial disease commonly known as Kennel Cough. Kennel Cough is highly contagious and vaccination is required either annually or biannually by many grooming and boarding facilities. Intranasal vaccines or subcutaneous vaccines are both available.

Leptospirosis
This vaccine protects against a bacterial disease commonly referred to as Lepto. Leptosporosis can be contracted from the urine of rats and other rodents and can be transmitted to humans. We recommend this vaccine to high risk dogs. The first vaccine is a series of two that are given three weeks apart, followed by a yearly booster.

Lyme
This vaccine protects against an infectious tick-born disease that attacks many systems of a dog's body. A series of two vaccines is given 21 days apart, followed by an annual booser. We recommend this vaccine to high risk pets.

Fecal Exam
Checks for round, hook, and whip worms. Recommended annually for indoor pets and every six months for outdoor pets.

Deworming
We recommend a deworming at your pet's first visit and at least once after. Panacur, Drontal and Pyrantel are acceptable medications. Start litters at three to four weeks if possible.
